This simulation shows the physics of two balls colliding elastically in
1D (without any rotational motion).
The speed of each ball is displayed in the boxes at the top of the
display.
What can be changed:
-
Mass(m) and initial horizontal velocity(v) of each ball can be
adjusted with the slider bars
-
Check the "paused when in contact" checkbox to show more detail of the
process during the collision. Click the mouse in the display area or
click play to restart motion.
Physics processes
-
When the two ball meet, the program shows the velocity for each ball
-
Interaction (force) between balls is along the line connecting the two
balls
-
The two balls are separate after the collision
